Week 2 – Class session
WHAT IS WORLD BUILDING?
World building is creating fictional worlds with depth and detail. It involves crafting imaginary settings where every element, from history to ecology, is carefully thought out to make the world feel real and immersive
History:
- Consider the time period and events that shape your story.
- Think about global catastrophes or periods of peace that affect your world.
Ecology:
- Think about the animals and nature in your world.
- Consider how human activity affects the environment.
Geography:
- Decide where your story takes place and how advanced the nation is.
- Explore how history and religion influence architecture and landscapes.
World-building is a fun journey of imagination. By crafting a detailed history, ecology, and geography, you can create a captivating world that draws readers or viewers into your story.

SETS AND PROPS
Once we’ve decided on our story’s world, we start creating sets and props to make our scenes better. Things like barrels for westerns or computers for sci-fi add to the story. We can also use jungles or abandoned buildings to make our scenes more exciting.

Learn as you go start out small and work your way up creating sets and props can be daunting for some.
Tips in Maya:
Utilize the crane rig for your camera setup. Begin early and jot down any ideas you have. Aim to include elements from your envisioned world in these compositions.
Keep it straightforward and enjoy the process!
