W9 Motion Graphics – Countdown 2

Overall Final Countdwon

Number 6

Adding a box with a hole where the ball can land is a super good idea ( I am very satisfied with the design) .

As for number 6, I animated the ball again to guide the audience’s view. I added a background with a box that has a hole inside, allowing the ball to move and play around with it, making the transition more dynamic.

Number 5

It was painful to keyframe the part where the ball transforms into three pieces of pie, doing it frame by frame in C4D.

The transition for number 5 was super challenging because the ball had to transform into a pie. I did this in a single file without any cuts, so the keyframes in C4D were extremely detailed—I almost animated it frame by frame!

But I like the result! You can see the ball speed up and create a powerful movement as it lands in the final position. This is inspired by what I learned from the 12 principles of animation.

Number 4

I think this one is the simplest. I also struggled with adding a background to make number 4 stand out. Anyway… it looks cute.

The number 4 animation is super simple. I didn’t add much movement to the composition of the shape. The transition is also straightforward, with the bar from number 5 transforming into part of number 4.

Number 3

Number 3 features a cute bouncing ball as the transition, and I spent a lot of time adjusting its timing, especially the moments when it speeds up and jumps.

By the way, I animated numbers 5 to 3 in a single file. I felt it was better to work this way to make rendering easier and avoid organizing too many separate renders. It also allowed me to see the whole animation flow more clearly.

For the number 3 animation, I used the ball again to connect the two scenes. You can see the bouncing ball jump up, transition into the shape of number 3, and then move to its final position in the composition.

Number 2

The ball can transform into so many different things, like a bar, circle, platform, cube, or ring, where various shapes can be attached.

I love experimenting with geometric visuals—it’s so much fun!

The number 2 animation was really hard for me to animate at first because I felt like I had already done so many countdowns and couldn’t think of another shot that would bring an unexpected moment for this cut. Also, since this is the final cut leading to the ending shot, which should be the most exciting, I struggled to make it stand out.

The number 2 transition follows a ball that zooms in and transforms at the same time. -> Dynamic!

I also rendered other background motions, but I felt they were too complicated for such a short cut. So, I decided not to use them in the final countdown.

Number 1

Number 1 is a cool one! I love how the star is revealed—it adds such a nice touch to the animation. ( have a bling bling moment )

Ahhh, finally, it’s number 1—the last number of this countdown! I used a star as the main pattern for this cut’s composition. You can see the ball from number 2 moving to the center, where a star pops up! Then, more stars rotate around and fill the shape of number 1.

I added rotating elements, like stars flying in the air, as decoration for the final shot to make it more dynamic and celebratory.

Transition

For the transition of number 1 leading to the ending shot, I added bar-like slide effects to mask out the scenes as a transition. Initially, I was inspired by the Netflix logo motion, where colorful bars come together. I love the graphic style of transition bars or slides, so I incorporated that idea. To enhance the visuals, I added gradient colors, creating a beautiful composition for this shot.
