Session 8 – Project support

Today, there’s no class, but Serra will check on our artifact project progress. Currently, I’m focusing on the animation segment. To accommodate time constraints, I’ve condensed the storyboard to 40 seconds, ensuring the story remains simple, sweet, and succinct.

Additionally, I’ve been exploring texture and testing rendering in C4D using Redshift. I find the rendering process incredibly gratifying, especially when it brings out the beauty of the design in the final render.

Moreover, I’ve successfully tackled animating the morphing aspect in C4D. Here are some methods I’ve employed:

  1. Utilizing spline shapes within C4D.
  2. Approaching it geometrically, manipulating objects like star shapes and keyframing parameters like inner and outer radius.
  3. To achieve a smooth transition from square to circle, I’ve added subdivisions to ensure a seamless morphing effect.

Styleframe testing

I’m testing out different colours, inspired by Vincent’s work. I’m thinking of making them less bright to create a more natural atmosphere, like in nature.

Here is the website from Vincent’s 3D work.

Here are some working progress in C4D:

  1. testing rendering ( I add circles popping up behind the bowl to create a smoke. )

2. Favorite scenes ( The result with a realistic style which is out of my expectation after I add texture. )

The lemon with a smile! -> cute

3. Lighting Test

Before I do the texture, I will set up the light first. I will check the light without any texture. In this way, it is easy to adjust the light without any disruption.

Mostly, I will use one dome light ( HDRI ) and 2 spotlights to enhance the trim and edge of the objects.

4. I also like the texture with a pottery style. In C4d redshift, there are many default options like metal or plastic materials which we can do this kind of textures in a short time.

5. This is my second favourite part.

I also added a smile pattern on the meat which is so cute. :p
